Home Sweet Home Keys!

At the lab,  we work every day on how to place our fingers in the correct  Home Row Keys.  A good way to start is with a correct position in front of the computer.  The students try their best to use the HOME ROW POSITION for their fingers, this is the most important step to become a very good and fast future typer:

At school, at home, at the library, everywhere, always try to place your little fingers on the Home Row Keys every time you use a keyboard!

Parts of the Computer

Students worked for the last few weeks on learning the basic parts of a Personal Computer (PC) .  Kindergarteners also have been practicing mouse movement.  First and second graders were introduced to these new technology terms: Software, hardware, input, output and storage devices. We used several online learning activities at the Lab to name parts of a PC.

Right Posture in Front of the Computer

When you use a computer you must think about the selection of a comfortable chair placed in in front of the keyboard. Your back should be resting firmly against the back of the chair.  You should be able to reach the keyboard without needing to stretch forward. Your arms should be relaxed and elbows should be slightly bent.  Move your chair closer to or further from the keyboard as required.  Remember this correct posture is not just to be used at the Computer Lab but everywhere you need to sit, you'll prevent future back problems.  The above image shows you the correct posture:
